ISATAP nslookup command Error

    Question

  • Hi All,

I am referring TLG for configuring UAG DirecAccess. In TLG - Demonstrate Forefront UAG 2010 SP1 RC DirectAccess. In Step 2 Section D ISATAP configuration is given. After following the guide Step By Step in the End when I check the ISATAP with "nslookup isatap" I got an error "localhost can't find isatap: Non-existant domain"

    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

In normal condition NSLOOKUP ISATAP.<Jour domain> would respond with the IPv4 internal address of your UAG box. Otherwize you did not remove the ISATAP entry of all your internal DNS Servers. This behavior is by design to ensure that some names cannot be resolved by default even if name exist into the DNS zone.

That is the DNS query block list Benoit is talking about. Windows DNS servers by default do not respond to queries for WPAD and ISATAP. For details see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794902(v=ws.10).aspx
