Transport Rules blocking attachments of specific file extension AND over specific file size

    Question

  • Anyone know how to block attachments over a certain file size, but that are also a certain file extension?

If not, does anyone know of some sort of solution out there to do this?

    Thanks for reading!

  • Hello,

You can create this transport rule: Any attachment's file name matches/ Any attachment's file extension matches; Any attachment size is greater than or equal to xxx; Reject the message with the explanation/ Reject the message with the enhanced status code/ Reject the message without notifying anyone.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that rule will fail if there are multiple attachments. For example, say we are trying to block JPGs over 3 MB. Now say a message comes through that has both a 50 KB JPG and a 3.5 MB PDF attached, and is checked against that rule. The message will be blocked.
