MDT 2013 and Server 2003

    Question

  • I was reading the notes from the MDT 2013 release and I see that support for 2003 has been removed. We aren't currently deploying 2003, but we have some existing systems that have to still be 2003 so we need to continue to make those task sequences available for now.

Does anyone know if MDT 2013 removes the ability to deploy 2003 WIM's or is it just not supported anymore?

    Thanks,
    Rich

  • Windows XP / Server 2003 support was removed with Windows ADK 8.1, which is a requirement for MDT 2013. As such, I don't believe you would be able to deploy Server 2003 (or Windows XP.) If you require Server 2003, your best bet is to keep MDT 2012 U1 (or whatever version you currently have) and/or set up a different deployment share for MDT 2013.

  • Thanks.. that's what I was just thinking through during lunch. I'll make a copy of the current share and upgrade it to 2013, but leave the old for anything that needs to be 2003.
