  • Hi,
You should upgrade your two CAS/HUB Servers before you upgrade your cluster nodes.

For the CCR Nodes, follow the instructions in "How to Upgrade a Clustered Mailbox Server in a CCR Environment"

  • Hi Wasay13,

I am having a similar (but not exactly the same) problem, but maybe I can help you a bit (as well as ask my version of the question...).

I am  struggling to understand the relationship of SPs and roll-up updates, and whether you need to uninstall the latter before you progress to install a subsequent SP.

I have Exchange 2007 with SP2 and roll-up updates 1 through 5 installed currently. I am trying to upgrade to SP3. I understand that upgrading to SP3 is required before upgrading to Exchange 2010. (That's my real goal here.)

I’m really struggling to understand the next steps.

I have read repeatedly the following link and related links (These may be of help to you):

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee221147(EXCHG.80).aspx

Regarding my answers to the pre-deployment checklist in such checklist:

    1.      SP2 is installed.

    2.      Roll-up packages 1 through 5 for SP2 are installed.

My gut is that I can install SP3 plus the latest (actually, I understand that SP3 has only 1 roll-up update available) available roll-up update for SP3 (that’s 2 installations...1 service pack and 1 roll-up...), and that I don’t need to uninstall the 5 roll-ups for SP2 that are already installed. But I’m not confident in that conclusion because various TechNet Exchange articles talk about uninstalling roll-ups.

Sorry if I'm stepping on your question, but it feels like we have very similar problems, and I wonder if anyone can help advise.

    Many thanks.

    Keith

  • Hi wasay,

    Any updates?

Keith, you don't need to uninstall Rollup to upgrade SP3. But you do need to remove the interim updates.

The latest rollup for Exchange 2007 SP3 is Rollup 5.

Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (KB2602324)

  • Exactly, so the upgrade must be performed from the passive Mailbox cluster node firstly. As per the Article that Martina suggested: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676320(EXCHG.80).aspx.
