  • Hi Rob,

Thanks for contacting us. we would like to work together with you on this issue.

Per your post, I am not clear whether this is an Office application crash issue or Windows crash issue. I mean if the crash event happens, does other programs still run? In addition, we may confirm it based on the Windows event log.

If we are encountered the outlook crash issue, please try to run “outlook.exe /safe“ to check  if the issue would be gone.

If yes, it indicates the issue is caused by add-ons, please disable the add-ons one by one to clarify which one is culprit.

If no, please try to create a new profile as link method:

If we are encountered the Windows XP crash issue, please use Clean Boot to troubleshoot:

  • Thanks Karen,

(sorry if its a little disjointed - have been cutting and pasting trying to find the part of my original message that it thinks is a link or image)

Have been running Outlook 2010 for a while - no problems.  Loaded 4Team Sync2 program to sync with other PC and, not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but lately every time I try to attach a file to an email, I get "encountered a problem and needs to shut down". Have uninstalled the Sync2 program, but still no success.

It doesn't appear to matter what file type as I don't even get past the "browse" dialog to select a folder before it crashes.  Every time I have reported to MS, but no info.

I am running a couple of profiles - crashes with both

    I've disabled all "add-in"s - crashes

Started in "safe mode" - crashes

I am able to attach through a "send as" in other programs (word 2010, adobe PDF)

Outlook is the only program effected - I get the "encountered an error - needs to shut down" diag box, then Outlook re-starts no problem.  As far as attaching, I don't even get past the 'browse" diag box. The box opens and about 2 sec later I get the "encountered an error".

I loaded the same Sync2 program my other machine (to sync the machines together), it doesn't have a problem.

    Very frustrated!
