With WSUS 3, status rollup icon is yellow

    Question

  • Hello

    I have WSUS3 on Windows 2008 SP2.

In the console, we have removed an update which has been already installed on machines.

When I see the status of the computers, they have:

    Status Rollup icon: Yellow

    This Update status: Not installed

    This update approval: Removal

All is OK except the status rolllup icon.

    Does this yellow color normal?

If so, is it possible to have a normal white/bleu information icon and not the yellow warning icon?

    Thank you for your help

    Regards

It is if there's an update in NotInstalled status.

    No.

    Thank you for the answer.

But is there a way to tell the WSUS console that all is OK without having warnings for such situations

    Thanks

I think you have the cart before the horse. The WSUS console tells you the FACTUAL state of your environment. What you do with that information -- how you react to the facts -- is your decision to be made.

I believe the challenge here is interpreting factual information that some updates are NotInstalled, as being BAD information, when it's just a NORMAL indication (unless you really do plan to deploy Silverlight to your Domain Controllers).

You don't adjust the WSUS console to reflect the imaginary reality you want any more than the CFO adjusts the financial system to reflect the P&L he wishes was there.
