Booting from VHD on Flash Drive

    Question

  • I would like to boot from a VHD located on a flash drive. I created a VHD on the flash drive in the Windows setup and installed Windows to it. Windows does not automatically attach the VHD though. So when the bootloader looks for the system files it cannot find them. Is there a way to automatically attach the VHD at boot time? I know there is PWBoot but I would like use only Microsoft tools. Is there something like BCDEdit that will attach the VHD so that I can boot from it? I am trying to run the OS from the flash drive. Not install it to my internal hard drive. So the WinPE methods are not what I am looking for. Thanks in advance.
