Desktop icons are showing as unsupported format and we can able to access it but all the icons are same format

  • Hi Folks,

    Please find my desktop icons showing as crash\unsupported format and we can able to access the same but there is no difference on all the file. All the icons are showing in single format that unsupported format

    I am trying to fix it but not able to make it.

    can anyone help on this?

    Right click on the Desktop -> click on Personalize -> click on Change desktop icons -> click on Restore Default -> OK.

    Logoff and logon again.

    If the above suggestion doesn't work, try following

    Log on to the machine using local admin account.

    User profiles can be found in C:\Users folder,

    Rename the affected User profile to say User.old  e.g. if username is Santosh, rename that folder to Santosh.old

    Don't forget to backup favorites, files/folders on desktop, documents and anything important

    Logon again with the domain account, a new profile will be created and that should restore the corrupt icons.

    By the way what OS are you using ?
