Export password to text file?

    Question

  • Hi,

Not sure how this happened, but my previous post on this topic has vanished.

    Here is the repost:

Is there a way that FIM will export an AD password to a text file in clear text?

    Thank you,

    SK

  • No. AD stores the password in a one-way hash format, and it won't let you get at the hash either way.

  • So not even with PCNS installed on the DCs? I thought that's why PCNS existed, to intercept the password before it gets hashed?

  • If you build an ECMA, you can grab new password changes and sets and save them (don't know why you would do that, though) - but you wont be able to extract existing passwords like Brian writes...

  • Hi,

I do not want to extract existing passwords. When a user changes their password, PCNS should interfere, and allow me to export this password to any other system clear-text or not....so is this possible?

    thank you
