Customizing the Users Portal page by Adding/Replacing columns. Can it be done?

    Question

  • The default Portal Users page shows a page of Users with the DEFAULT column data visible.

The Default columns seem to be: DisplayName Domain AccountName JobTitle OfficeLocation OfficePhone and Email.

What we would like to do is to see if we can Replace "OfficePhone" with "MobilePhone" (more useful in the 21st century) and remove the Domain column. We have just one domain in our forrest so this is quite static and could be in Header.

Can we customise the page in such a way? And is there a how-to for this sort of customization??

  • Go to Search Scopes, find all users search scope, adjust list of returned columns as needed. IISRESET required after modification.

  • seems to be ok.

How did you come by this knowledge? I cannot find any references to Portal customization other than changing banner, logos etc..

  • Well .. really don't remember - it is just something which is stored in my memory somewhere :), probably since early RC0 times. Never looked if it is documented somewhere.
