Quick question: Locale settings

    Question

  • Hi,

I need to prepare MDT settings and need some input about the following:

    1. How do I set timezone settings for country with DST?

For example: TimeZoneName - Greenwich Standard Time

It is now with time zone offset: UTC/GMT +1 hour .. how to set the DST under MDT settings?

    2. Keyboard layout

Default keyboard need to use AZERTY instead of QWERTY. How can this be defined on MDT settings?

    Thank you for your assistance!

  • The (UTC) Casablanca is Morocco Standard Time

You can list all timezones by typing tzutil /l in a command promp.

As far as the check box goes, you can try setting this in the unattend.xml (or write a script that injects it).

    <DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>false</DisableAutoDaylightTimeSet>

  • For timezone, you simply set the following:

    TimeZoneName=Greenwich Standard Time

Windows, with the correct updates, will handle daylight time changes etc.

As far as keyboard goes, you set the KeyboardLocale property to whatever input locale you want to. I think 0813:00000813 is azerty, but you should also be able to use fr-fr.

  • Hi Johan,

Thank you very much for your input :)

I have successfully change the keyboard layout to AZERTY.

But for the timezone, there's still an issue.

I have performed new OS deployment again with Input TimeZoneName = Greenwich Standard Time & the results are below:

(Note that DST is not observed for UTC Monrovia, Reykjavik.

I will need to define the timezone name to be (UTC) Casablanca where you can see the DST option is checked.

How do I achieve a zero touch installation for the timezonename settings to reflect on (UTC) Casablanca with DST enabled?

    Thank you again!

  • Thanks Johan

    tzutil /l works great.

I'll use the naming convention there for MDT :)

    Thanks again!
