"Network cable unplugged" repeatedly appearing

    Question

  • Hello,

Surface Pro 2 8.1 256 SSD 8GB of RAM has a strange issue that has been pestering me for the past day or so.  When putting it in the docking station, the Ethernet connection keeps dropping every once in a while (very random) and says "network cable unplugged".  I forced the speed to 100 mbps half duplex and it seems to hold steady.  As soon as I put it to 100 mbps full duplex it does the same thing again.

Any idea what could be causing this?

    Thanks!

  • I've tried all the above along with these:

    Tried a completely different switch

    Different docking station

    Ran troubleshooter

There were a few others I did, but I forget what they were.  I did however seem to have gotten it resolved.  I ran some Windows Updates and it seems to have been fixed.  I checked the updates that ran, but nothing seems to be related to the network adapter.

Anywho, I believe we are good to go now.  I will stop back here if it starts up again.

    Thanks!

  • What kind of troubleshooting have you done?

    Tried another Ethernet-cable?
    another port on your switch?
    reinstalled NIC-driver?
