Managing Dell servers and DRAC

    Question

  • What's the best way to setup monitoring of Dell server hardware (eg. disks) and their DRAC cards ?  We have Dell OpenManage installed on our Windows 2012 servers and Dell Server Management Pack 5.0.1 installed on SCOM.  Plus where in the console would this information appear ? Thanks

Have you looked through the guide for the Dell management pack?

When you install the MP .exe it extracts the Installation _Guide.pdf. Your directory might be: %installdrive%:\Dell Management Packs\Server Management Pack\5.0.1 you will find the guide there.

Read through this guide as it will tell you were to go to start monitoring DRAC and how to access DRAC information in SCOM. Once you have gone through the guide and ensured everything is setup correctly you should be able to see DRAC info under the Monitoring area in SCOM.

  • Okay, we see the DRAC info under the SCOM Monitoring.  We just have to do some configuration on the servers.  What should it look like when we have the servers and DRACs reporting properly ?  (especially with regard to disks/arrays)

    Thanks

  • Under our Monitoring > Dell > State Views > Managed Servers (In-Band), we're only seeing a few servers.  What should we be checking on our remote servers and our SCOM server ?

    Thanks
