User Account Locking when connected from Home Windows 7 & Outlook 2007 ?

    Question

  • Hi All,

We have a user whose account is locking out when connected from home with data card.

Once he is in office with LAN connection everything is fine.

    What could be the issue

  • Hello manjurainbow123,
account is locked out after repeated logon failures due to a bad password.

That said this mean there is something different from when user connects from the office and from home (assumed to be true the computer is always the same, right ?)
What are configured Account Lockout Policies (TechNet Library - Configuring Account Lockout Policies) ? I suggest to read this TechNet Library thread Windows account keeps getting locked out!; it could be helpful to troubleshoot the issue.

    Bye,
    Luca

  • This is a funny question to ask , but does the user have an IPAD or IPhone , with office email account configured on? You should check this aswell. I have seen situations where wrong passwords are configured on these devices thereby locking out the account due to multiple entries.

Having said that , If you have audit account logon security policy enabled, then you can proceed to filter through the security log of your DC for event related to lockout of this account - further more - your could use LockoutStatus.exe - below
