  • Good day,

I am using TMG 2010 with latest updates and rollups. I created a role for pop3, POP3S, SMTP, and SMTP3S from internal to external to all users. The policy was working fine but after few months I received the following errors,

  • Hi,

    >> Protocol: NetBios Name Service

NetBIOS Name Service is is not required to get POP/POPS/SMTP/SMTPS working.
There must be a other problem tha e-mail is not working.
    Please check:
    DNS name resolution (NSLookup)
Use Telnet to check if external Servers listens to the required ports

Which error message do you get from the mail clients?

  • Behind TMG 2010 I receive the following error message in Microsoft Outlook client,

!Tast obet@sq.com.sa – Receiving reported error (0x800408FC): ‘The Server name you entered cannot be found on the network (It may be down temporarily). Verify that you are online and that the server name is correct’

But I can download my mails to outlook, when I directly connect to the internet without any proxy server.

  • Hi,

Please check DNS name resolution (NSLookup). The name of the e-mail Server must be resolvable

  • IT is reversible. The policy was working perfectly but suddenly stop responding from past 3 days.
