    2) Make sure that the login account is part of local ADMINISTRATORS group.

    3) Launch the SETUP.EXE in administrator privilege (RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR)

or DISABLE the UAC on the server and reboot.

    4) Use a new profile for installation

Create a new user account and add this account to local ADMINISTRATORS group. Login to the Windows using this account and try the installation with RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

  • Hi Ortelio,

Before you installing SQL Server 2008R2, we need to verify if you have downloaded and installed Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5. Additionally,  to install SQL Server 2008 R2 , you will need administrative rights on the computer.

If it still fails, please provide us the error messages logged into the setup log files which are located in the %Program files%\Microsoft sql server\100\Setup bootstrap\Log\ folder.

    Thanks,
