when I try to start the setup.exe /quiet

i says : " SQL server 2008 R2 setup requires Microsoft .net framework 2.0 SP2 to be installed"

    Hello,

Follow below workaround, more details in given article

    Workaround:

To resolve this problem install .NET Framework 3.0 SP1.  To obtain the .NET Framework 3.0 SP1, visit the following Microsoft Download Center Web site:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EC2CA85D-B255-4425-9E65-1E88A0BDB72A&displaylang=en

Note: Though .Net framework 3.0 would suffice for the .net 2.0 Sp2 requirement, directly installing 3.5 SP1 will not only install .net framework 2.0 Sp2, it will also  get the system to the framework level that is required by SQL Server 2008 product (3.5 SP1). For further information on hardware and software requirements for SQL Server 2008, visit the following link on MSDN:

  • (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000225) is this link restricted.? I can't view it.

And I don't expect I have to further install any other patch to make it work. Since I do very well for installing R2 SP1 2 months ago.

No its not restricted if you find problem check with your Internet security team.

Its not asking to apply patch its asking to Install .Net framework 3.0.You can enable it from server manager if you have Windows server 2008 and above
