  • I don't understand why you would want to avoid a supported hotfix and venture into unsupported territory that could cause you more headaches then necessary.

    Microsoft release the hotfix after a strict Test cycle which involves testing their own dll's and kernel code on several machines.

    You Cannot modify kernel code , donno what is blocking you to apply the hotfix .

  • You can try out the alternatives but they might require latest dll's to be in place which the hotfix provides

    Apparently, with a little programming people are stating that they can get accurate results without updated dlls but I don't have much confidence because the solutions do not appear to have widespread implementations and are lacking in testing details.

    I would have expected more noise on this item but maybe most people have left W2K3 (as they should)
