Some users are not shown in network

    Question

  • Hello

I have a domain with 70 users, server 2012 DC with server 2012 secondary DC. Some users are not shown in network, but are discoverable when typing "//username" in explorer. How can I make ALL online computers shown in network?

P.S. BPA shows no errors in AD DC.

  • Hello,

do you talk about users or do you mean computers, sounds for me the latter is your problem?

Please assure on machines that NetBios over TCP/IP is enabled on the NIC settings and that also the computer browser service is started.

If you run mutliple subnets WINS will be your friend.

When you say "not shown in network" could you elaborate where this is? Is it the result of a script that would enumerate every computer in the domain?

Do you have any firewalls in place between hosts?

  • Hi, I mean My Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network -> <mydomain.com> Network list, computer browser & NetBios over TCP/IP are enabled in both DC-s, should I enable them on users computers also???

  • Any firewalls in place?

Could you post an ipconfig /all of a machine that does appear and one that does not?

If users computers are the ones not showing up, then please do so and observe the results.
