SBS 2008 SP2 BPA: DNS Client Not Configured

    Question

  • All over the internet these posts exist, but no solutions exist in my case. BPA now throws up this error

The DNS client is not configured to point only to the internal IP address of the server. For information about how to fix network settings, see "Managing Your Windows Small Business Server 2008 network" at the Microsoft Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=115881).

I run the CEICW, completes successfully. I changed my RAS setting to not register PPP Dial in in DNS. I added host records for local domain and for my GC. I checked the LANNIC GUID and it is correct. I am out of options.

    SBS2008 SP2 holding FSMO.

Server 2008 R2 as a secondary DNS and IIS.

Everything works, except I get this error in the BPA.

    Here is my ipconfig /all

  • but it is neither an error nor a problem. The BPA is telling you SBS is not the only DNS server, and you know SBS is not the only DNS server.

    What is the problem?

  • where is the .114 DNS Server coming from and is it in fact a DNS server?

  • The .114 DNS server is my secondary (backup) dns, which is a windows 2008 r2 member. It is configured as a trusted secondary DNS server for 3 of my zones. Is this something that does not need to be added under network properties? Both servers point to .113 then .114 for DNS.

  • then the BPA is just confirming something you know to be true, what's the problem?

  • Because errors in the BPA bother me, and it only comes up on the SBS. The Windows Server 2008 R2 has the same settings with no errors. this is a well documented problem searching the web, yet no solutions have been found that fix this for me. I was thinking it had something to do with my IPv6 settings, I don't know.
