Office 2010 Professional Plus Activation

    Question

  • I am using a KMS server to activate the Office 2010 product on XP SP3 workstations. We have been getting the "Product Activation Failed" message with the 0x8007232B error code on several machines. I have tried running the cscript ospp.vbs /act but it still gives the 0x8007232B error. How do I resolve this issue?

  • Hi,

Are your Win XP SP3 installs 64-bit? 64-bit on XP SP3 is not supported.

More than likely the KMS host is not being discovered by the Office 2010 clients via DNS. I'm curious about your KMS server. Was it used to activate your Windows clients? Is it on the Windows Server 2008 (which is not supported for Office 2010)? You cannot use the same KMS host that was used for Windows - you need to set up the host for Office 2010 by installing the Office 2010 KMS Host License Pack. The Office 2010 KMS host must run on either a VL edition of Win7, Win Server 2008 R2, or Win Server 2003 SP2 or later. If your host server is Win Server 2003, you must also install KMS 1.2.

  • I agree with Darryl that it's probably an issue with finding the KMS host.

Some follow-up questions: do you have other machines with Office that have successfully activated with this KMS host?  Have other XP machines been able to successfully activate?
