Install SSRS if R2 SP2 already installed ?

    Question

  • I have a 2008 R2 SP2 SQL Server, and want to add SSRS to it. I have the full R2 ISO (4gb), and the SP2 service pack (360kb).

If I install SSRS, do I need to reapply R2 SP2 to SQL Server afterwards ? Or is there a download that contains SSRS R2 SP2 all in one ?

  • Hi Andrew,

In this scenario, we need to add the Reporting Services service to the existing SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 instance from the ISO image first, and then apply the Service Pack 2 for SQL Server 2008 R2. For the services and features that have been updated to SP2 already, they will be ignored during the SP2 installation. We can see that from the "Select Features" page of the SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 installation.
