    Question

  • Hello All,

Pls help Pls.. Need resolution Urgent!

critical issue Pls help : Prestage Content

We have deployed packages using Prestage Content

packages are showing WAITING FOR CONTENT since a long time in Distribution status of SCCM console

and that packages are not replicated to DP's, Not showing any content in SMSpackage share of DP machine

for this issue, I have searched in google and found that Microsoft HOTFIX available for CU1 SCCM 2012 SP1

Pls confirm whether that HOTFIX resolves the issue?

If Yes, where to install that HOTFIX i.e in DP machine or in SCCM Server?

If the hotfix wont help, help me with solution?

    Kindly help me!!

  • There's a hotfix available that fixes the console displaying the wrong status ("waiting" although the content already reached the DP). It has to be installed on the site server.

    Hi Trosten/All,

Is HOTFIX applies to Software deployment using Prestage Content?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2828900/en-us HOTFIX link I am talking abt

We have to install the hotfix in Site server, not in the DP machine (where replication failed).. Correct??

Kindly correct if I am wrong

The same package distributed to other DP's, but to some particular DP's it is showing the
    above mentioned status

  • hi prabha,

Probabaly this is  "Package is Stuck"

check the Package ID and anylisis log file  Distmgr.log file

see if any package id is retrying or not anywhere .If this package ID is continuesly showing up

And See something like this "waiting for new Content"

then we can use a SQL querry to clear

Use below querry through SQL management Studio of the sccm server

But be think one more time to do it

    select * from dbo.PkgStatus where id='01N00130 ' and sitecode='96N'
    Delete FROM PkgStatus WHERE ID= '01N00130 ' AND SiteCode='96N'

make sure you  use these queries very thoughfully by replace what yours

    try this !!

    Pls help

  • Do not delete anything from the database manually. It is not supported and can cause issues.
Can you explain the current situation better? Is there a (remote?) DP that's enabled for prestaged content? Have you exported an application or package (so that there's an .pkgx file)? Have you imported that .pkgx file on the DP using extractcontent.exe?

  • Hi Torsten,

One Primary Site>> Multiple DP's... Recently migrated to CM12

Yes, we have DP's enabled for prestaged content.

Have you exported an application or package (so that there's an .pkgx file)? Yes

Have you imported that .pkgx file on the DP using extractcontent.exe? Yes

    Torsten,

I have followed the below steps to resolve this issue, Pls confirm whther these are correct or not?

    1. Navigated to Administration, right click on the distribution point site system role (Which is throwing this issue) and then properties.  Uncheck the “Enable this distribution point for prestaged content”

    2. Next located the package in the software library and clicked on “Update Distribution Points.”  The Package succeeded in distributing

Tested the above steps for 2 packages and got distributed succesfully

    Pls Confirm...

    Our problem is,

We have  deployed packages using Prestage content. Packages successfully deployed to other DP's but in some DP's showing waiting for content and empty package showing in DP package share

  • You just did a workaround (by unchecking the prestage option for the DP).
Do you really need the DPs to be configured for prestaging at all? Why was it enabled at all? Prestaging usually works fine. Did extractcontent.exe return any errors?
You will only see files in the package share if you specifically this option on a per package basis. Otherwise all content will end up in the contentlib.

  • Dear Torsten,

Do you really need the DPs to be configured for prestaging at all? No

Did extractcontent.exe return any errors? No

    Does the above solution fine?
