  • Hi Brain,

    Thank you for your post.

Is it a Windows Server 2003 R2 server? According to the following KB article, this issue may occur if the User Name Mapping component is not installed on the server.

925637          Event ID: 1003 occurs every 30 minutes after you install Microsoft Services for network file system on a Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;925637

By default, the User Name Mapping component is not installed when you install Microsoft Services for NFS. You can verify it by performing the following steps:

    1.    Open Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.

    2.    Select Other Network File and Print Services in the Components list, click Details button.

    3.    Select Microsoft Services for NFS, click Details button.

    4.    Check if the User Name Mapping is selected to install.

If the Microsoft Services for NFS is not required in the environment, it is safe to uninstall the component.

    Thanks.
