Question about Update KB2821895 on Windows 2012 Server

    Question

  • In my WSUS server, all servers that run Windows Server 2012 are reporting that the update KB2821895 are pending installation. However, when I execute a Windows Update check on servers it does not show in this update.
Checking the status of this update on the WSUS server, it is listed as Not Approved. By I researched on the internet, this update was problematic and was removed by Microsoft.
The question is: because my WSUS server still reports this update as pending?

Correct. KB2821895 was expired for WS2012 (it is still valid for Windows 8 and Windows RT) which is why you can't find it in Windows Update. (Expired updates are not available in WU/MU.)

The state information you have on that update was likely recorded before the update was expired, and that state information is stale. Expired updates should be declined so as to preclude the erroneous interpretations of such stale information. :-)

Regular use of the Server Cleanup Wizard will also help, as it automatically declines any expired updates that were not previously approved (as seems to be the case here).
