A differential backup captures only the data that has changed since that full backup. So you answer is YES.

    2.how use mapped drive destination?

Just use the network drive address.

  • Hello Seyed,

    1. You must have first at least one full backup; a differential backup includes all changes since the last full backup.

    2. Why mapping a drive? Use the UNC path as destination instead.

  • Hello ,

You can use below technet video to configure backup through Maintenance plan wizard.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/dd430301.aspx

For configuring backup using MP wizard please make sure

Backups to a network folder require the following prerequisites:
    1)  The SQL Server service must be running under a domain-level account.
    2)  The SQL Server service account must have FULL CONTROL rights to the file system folder and to the share.
    3)  The remote share should only be accessed via UNC name.  Mapped drives may not be consistently visible to the SQL Service.

Once these prerequisites are met, the UNC name can be typed into the 'Use this directory' text field on the 'Complete Backup' and/or the 'Transaction Log Backup' tabs of the Database Maintenance plan.  SQL will then write backups to this location.  Do not use the '…' button.  This button will only enumerate local disk resources.

    --full backup using script
    backup database db_name to disk=N'\\network_path\db.bak'
    --differential backup
backup database db_name to disk=N'\\network_path\db.diff' with differential
Make sure SQL server service account has read, write permission on the network drive
