SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on same Server 2008 box

    Question

  • I have a server running Server 2008 and it has SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.  Both of these services are eating up over 19 GB of my 32 GB of RAM.  I need some information if this is advisable or not, since I would like to remove one and see if the application that is using it can be configured to use the remaining one: I am thinking it would be advisable to keep SQL Server 2008 R2.  I have inherited this issue from the previous IT person, who is no longer with the firm I am at.  I am by no means a SQL guru, and need some information.
