AD FS and new version of DirSync

    Question

  • Hi,

There is a new version of DirSync that enable password synchronization.

In a new Windows Intune environment (no previously configured/installed), does the AD FS must be installed if I use the new version of DirSync?

    Thanks in advance!

  • No, ADFS does not have to be setup  ADFS/Single Sign-on allows you to use one account (your local AD account) with one password to access all your Microsoft services such as Office 365 and Windows Intune.  DirSync Password Synchronization allows you to use the same password in the cloud that you have on premise, but the two accounts are completely separate.

You can read about this new feature here:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn246918.aspx

    Thanks.

  • Thanks Jon for your response.

Can Intune Work only with AD FS (no DirSync installed)?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi,

Yes you would need DirSync to use ADFS.
