Server 2012 Remote App pop up windows hidden behind main window

    Question

  • I have a RD server running server 2012, it is a remote app server, i am having the issue of pop ups are hidden behind the main window. the users have to Alt+tab to get the window to come up .  I have seen this issue before for windows server 2008  and was able to resolve it with a patch. Is there a patch for server 2012  or a known work around that will affect all the users on the server ?

  • using a session based desktop or RDWeb?

    in either case definitely suggest having the RDP client upgraded on the workstations first.

    and the rdp clients are up to date

    Thanks for your reply.

    Apart from this update, I am not able to find any hotfix/update which can update Rdpshell.exe mentioned in KB2384602.

    Therefore, we may have to use Alt+tab to get the window coming up.

    However, I will submit this in our internal portal.

    If the client PC is Windows 7 please install the latest Remote Desktop Client (8.1) and see if it resolves the issue:

  • The RDP client is current across all machines. Issue still continues, we already use the Alt + Tab to get around this but this is not the fix we want.  is there a way to escalate this within Microsoft ?  DO i have to call this in and get a case number to get this resolved ?

    Very well never... it's been this way since 2008; really would have anticipated a fix by now.
