Domain administrator turned off system back up

    Question

  • Hi

    Ive had my computer for 6 years and find that I have no system back up available.  I am an administrator, but when I go into system restore it tells me that it has been "turned off by group policy" and that I need to "contact your domain administrator" to turn it back on.  This is a personal lap top computer.  There is no one but me.  How did it get set up this way?

    From what Im seeing on messing around in the computer is that perhaps it is because I no longer have a specific internet provider (IP)?  I use my phone via tether......

    Thank you

    Lynne

  • You can try to go into gpedit.msc,then follow Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | System Restore and double click it and turn it to not configured,even if it is in the same state

  • Or reset the local GPO completely;

    cmd > secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
