FIM SSPR - Change the sharepoint application pool account to use SPservice

    Question

  • Trying to install FIM 2010 r2 using sharepoint foundation 2010. Design involves two servers: server1 & server2.

Server1 will host spf 2010, fim portal, fim sync, fim sync services.

Server2 will host registration and reset portals

I have been following this document mostly

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh322882(v=ws.10).aspx

The portion that says "Change the sharepoint application pool account to use CORP\SPservice" : as outlined i went to configure service accounts and then looked at the drop down list. There is no "Web Application Pool - SharePoint 80".

The install of spf 2010 was a complete one and I chose to create a new farm

Is "Web Application Pool - SharePoint 80" differently named for a complete install in a new farm? If not, what am I missing?

    Thanks!

  • Yes, that is how it should be.  80 is the port by default.  I believe the central admin site gets a random port assigned over some range.

  • The technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh322909(v=ws.10) didn't go into the details of running configuration wizard. All it said was "The URL will be http://FIM1 and you will see Team Site Home page. Close Internet Explorer.Close the SharePoint Foundation 2010 splash screen."

So that was pretty much what I did the first time. Later I did run "Sharepoint 2010 configuration wizard" and at its completion it brought up the Central Administration page->Configure your Sharepoint farm. I did't proceed further than that.

The technet test lab used standalone version whereas I chose complete install (new farm was created). So does that mean I will have to configure the sharepoint farm?

  • I went ahead an configured the sharepoint farm. Now the web applications listed are "sharepoint - 80" and "sharepoint central administration v4"

The second site has a port assigned to it whereas the "sharepoint - 80" doesn't. Is that the way it should be?
