connecting from client computer (RDP) to WS 2008R2 with certificate, autorization

    Question

  • Hello.

I've done some research on the topic, but I anywhere found a solution for my problem.

Is it possible to do such a scenario?

The client computer (win vista, 7 32/64bit) connects via RDP (over WAN) with WS 2008 R2.
Both computers do not belong to a Domain.
What I mean is that the client can connect to the server only if on a client is installed certificate (generated on WS 2008 R2).
If the client computer does not have a certificate installed, then client computer can notconnect to the server via RDP.
I know that the RDP certificate is used to encrypt the connection between the client and the server.

Is it possible to perform such a connection in this way?

    Or maybe 3rd software solution.
This problem tired of me for a long time :)

I am grateful for any help.

    Cheers.

  • Hi,

Client certificate authentication is not supported.  You would need to use a third-party solution.
