Client inventories sent but not updating in database

    Question

  • I've stated having an inventory database issue recently... From what I can tell the clients know the MP and I can access the MP from the client. But when I trigger an hardware sync scan the PC runs through the task and says it successfully sent the scan to the MP.

But this scan doesn't show up in the database. OR at least in resource explorer.  I'm not sure where to look on the MP to see if it received and processed the scan without issue.  I did delete the MP role and re-installed it...

Not sure where to look next.

    Thanks

  • Yes I did... But... I rebooted the server and all of dataloader started processing all the scans... Looks like something got hung up and the reboot cleared it.  The hinv log said that it was put the scans in the dataloaders inbox but there was nothing there... At least that I could see.

While problem seems to be solved any insight on where I should look in those situtations would be appreciated as I am new to SCCM...

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Start by looking at the dataldr.log file on the site server and the mp_hinv.log file on the MP. Any resync messages in the dataldr.log?

  • The dataldr.log hasn't been updated since yesterday and I can't find the mp_hinv.log on the server.

  • the mp_hinv.log file is found in the SMS_CCM folder\logs on the MP Nt having any activity in the dataldr.log file tells me that the data never make it to the site server.

  • Ok but according to the inventoryAgent.log on the client it says it sent it successfully...  So where should I look next?

    Truncated InventoryAgent.log...

  • Thanks, any hint how to investigate, why software inventories are not updates? From last few months, latest application installations are not seen in software inventories. The problem is overall, this is not about single client or single software distribution.
