Powerpoint - Excel graphic linking; issues when updating links

    Question

  • Hi, I have a powerpoint presentation with 100's of graphs, made in Excel. They are linked, and in Office 2007, we experienced no problems with updating the graphs, to represent the latest changes and measurements made in the Excel spreadsheet.

No however, after upgrading to Office 2010, several workstations experience the same issue: every time we update the links, some of the graphs are replaced by the entire spreadsheet area, copied onto the slide. If we click update it stays the same. If we exit Powerpoint and open the document again the problem occurs again, but maybe this time, with another graphic.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Answers

  • Hi

Did you choose the paste as link when you copy/paste into PowerPoint?

I have tested in my machine and similar things did not happen.

Create a new file in PowerPoint, paste as link and update again.

If it persists, we recommend you start PowerPoint in safe mode to check the issue: Hold "Ctrl" key and click into the program.

We might also do a repair for Office 2010 in Control panel>Programs and features>Office 2010>Change>Repair.
