Yahoo messenger and skype keep crashing

    So I installed windows 8.1 (again) on my laptop,

    This time around i deleted all the pesky maintenance of doom tasks (don't ask me why, but your maintenance system drove me to insanity and back again).

    And this time, yahoo messenger and skype (both desktop versions, the metro skype works fine) crash at startup. In the case of yahoo messenger, the process doesn't even bother starting.

    I already tried repair windows 8.1, install all the updates, sfc/scannow keeps reporting corrupted files but never manages to repair them, i tried both the stock driver and the manufacturer drivers(PS: installing visual studio 2013 also makes my laptop unable to connect to the internet without blue screen).

    So, how do you fix all these?

    EDIT: looking at both the crash dumps at the same time poped msvcrt.dll as the guilty component.

    How does one fix that, if windows repair didn't do it?

    As I originally suspected, the problem was caused by faulty windows component, which got fixed by installing windows from a different image.

    this DLL is fine, it is just the C Runtime, the tool call a function incorrectly.

    OK so how do you explain the fact that both skype and yahoo messenger crash at the same time in the same way and kinda do the same thing (as in send packages over the internet), and yet their Metro counterparts, which obviously do not use the C runtime, do not have this problem?

    how should we know this? We don't code the tools.

    When an application crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the dump (zip it first) to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger, maybe I can see something useful.

    sky crashes becasue it tries to query Windows Performance Data (Perf counters). This is a coding issue. Ask this the skype support directly
