Windows Server 2008 R2 - Scheduled task stays currently running

    Question

  • I have two batch files , one to close a program and one to start it.

Both batch files work fine when run manually.

But in task scheduler, only the batch file that closes the program works, the batch file to start the program will stay as "Task is currently running"

Any idea why this is happening?

I tried with different users with admin privileges but still not starting.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Try to schedule two batch files run separately with two tasks or else use single batch file give some time delay between program stop and start.

Also make sure that disable UAC in a server (follow steps in http://rkpulagouni1.blogspot.in/2012_08_01_archive.html)

  • Yes currently there are two schedule jobs (one for each batch file).

I will check about your second suggestion, to use one with a delay in between.

Tried with the same batch file using delay. first part (closing program) worked but the startup didn't.

and as before, the batch file worked if run manually.

  • Have you disable UAC (User access control)? if not do it.

Also share us error/warning code/event recorded for this ?

  • UAC is disabled and no error (or else I don't know where to find).

  • UAC is disabled and no error (or else I don't know where to find).

The same task window you can find the tab "history", this tab will give all info about particular task.
