Will Server 2003 R2 Standard 32 bit migrate to server 2012 Essentials 64 bit?

    Question

  • Can someone answer the above question? The source server only runs AD, DNS and DHCP.

  • Hello,

there is no way to do in-place upgrades from 32bit to 64bit OS versions.

This requires to add the new OS DC as an additional DC into the existing domain.

BUT keep in mind that the Essentials version is limited about user accounts up to 25 and devices up to 50.

  • Thank you for the reply. I am sorry I left out one crucial piece of information. The 2012 server will be new hardware, totally separate machine.
