  • I have gone thru the thread and ensured that I am running the installation from C drive (previously I was running from D drive)...still failing at the same point. Please suggest an alternate way to install the instance. The latest Details.log is attached here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=3A7B21064F05A9FE!167&authkey=!ANTYnv88PD4wuFE

  • Hello,

Those user groups should not exist on a new installation. Some errors refer to 2005 version … it is normal to find those entries on successful installations too.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello,

Try to run setup as the local Administrator of the computer, this error is usually related to permissions required to install SQL Server.

You can also share with us the Detail.txt log file created by SQL Server setup, to know where the permissions are required. The following article may help you locate the file on disk:

    Hope this helps.

  • I am running the installation as local administrator and the log file has been uploaded to skydrive as mentioned in the original post. (https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=3A7B21064F05A9FE!166). If you can't access the file let me know, and I can try to get anotehr link.

  • Firstly Uninstall  Sql Server Setup, remove all instances and restart your system.

then try to install SQL Server set up again. if this not works then

May be some of your  SQL Server 2008 setup file missing. Try to run different setup if possible or Try to run the same setup in other system.
