how to create an iscsi target for a windows 2008 r2 machine?

    Question

  • I am obviously missing something simple here but I can't find it. Late night long day. I have a windows server 2012 iscsi server, I want to create a target for a windows 2008 r2 server. in the New iscsi virtual disk wizard I get to the 'Access Servers' point in ther process where I try to add the iscsi intiator that will access the iscsi virtual disk, I click the Add.. button and the Add initator ID dialog window opens and I have three choices 1) this is the default - 'Query initiator computer for ID (not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, or earlier):' 2) 'Select from the initator cache on the target server:' or 3) 'Enter a value for the selected type. Since the default will obviously not work I am not sure what to do next.
