Task sequence

    Question

  • Hi Expert,

This should be a very simple question.

After deployed a task sequence, i added additional task to install new application. Do i need to delete the task sequence and re-deploy?

For application, if we modify the installation options/string, we need to update content for the deployment type.

But if we add a new application and the application added into existing task sequence, do we need to do anything on the task sequence for the new application to push out?

    Please correct me.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi cswong,
it's no need to re-deploy the task sequence after making changes on it.

  • To add-on:

    • After a change to a task sequence you do not have to re-deploy the task sequence.
    • After a change to the command line of an application (deployment type), or a package (program) you do not have to update the content. This is only required when something in the content itself is changed.

  • Hi Matteo,

Thank you very much. I will further try it out.

    Hi Peter,

Thank you very much. I'm still quite confuse about the update/and redistribution. For example, when there is an update in the .ini, .vbs or .bat files in the application folder after the application deployment, should i run the "update" content or redistribute

And if we added new files on the sources folder that required as updates to the new installation after the application deployment, should i run the "update" content or redistribute

Thank you very much in advance for your help and advice.
