Windows 8 - Touch Pad scroll does not seem to work

    Question

  • In Windows 7 the Laptop's touch pad scroll works by sliding your finger on the right most side of the touch pad, but not in Windows 8?

Can anyone else please confirm if their Laptop's touch pad scroll is working to scroll the open screen page in Windows 8, please

  • I had the same issue and was the primary reason why I had a difficult time trying to use Windows 8 as a main OS.  My laptop's manufacturer site didn't have a newer driver than the one I had from 2010.  But, I was able to tell from the old driver version on that site, that my touchpad is a Synaptic.

So, I downloaded a driver from the Synaptic site:  http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers.  It works!!!  I downloaded the newest 64-bit Windows 7 one and now I can scroll.  It acts differently than I'm used to, but at least it is functional again.

  • Which laptop do you use? Have you installed the latest touch pad drivers?

  • Yes this is the same for me, very annoying! Even the WiFi didn't work for me out of the box, not very happy with Windows 8 already! My laptop is Acer Aspire V3-571 - so no wifi (though got drivers now) but still no scroll on the touchpad, there aren't any windows 8 drivers either which solve this issue.

  • I used this driver, worked a treat. Oddly I thought I had an Alps touch pad as the hardware ID said it was and the Dell driver indicated this, but in fact I have Synaptics v7.2. So this may work for both Synaptics and Alps touch pads. It may load on non Dell laptops (as I used Lenovo BT drivers as the Dell ones kept crashing my BT)
