cetificates - 1 certificate for multiple servers/services

    Question

  • Hi,

we are about to upgrade to exchange 2010.

we need to get a certificate, but we are also upgrading 2 other web services.

Can we get 1 wildcard cert   for *.domain.com  and use this cert for 3 servers/services.

or do we need to get 1 cert for each server/service?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I saw that, my question was whether the same cert could be used for exchange, and for another web server and for a 3rd web appliance.

It doesnt matter now, we have decided to go with 3 seperate certs and used SAN cert for exchange.

    Thanks

  • Hi,
Yes you can use a Wildcard certificate with Exchange, but be aware that there are some limitations when doing than.
For example: UM doesn't supported them and integration with OCS/Lync will not work. Also you will need to configure the Outlookprovider EXPR.
