Intermittent problem in Windows server 2008

    Question

  • Hi

In our Windows server 2008 which is in a VMware virtual machine, it is found that there are lots of intermittent problems happening in the application hosted which is heavily dependendent on the server performance.

We need to enable the performance monitoring in this server and got advised by application team to enable the monitoring with 1 sec interval instead of 15 secs which is the default interval found in performance monitoring .

What are all the counters in the performance monitoring which will catch the data for CPU, MEmory, disks, network, processes?

Will the server performance  be affected if set for 1 sec interval and approximate disk space needed for collecting the data through running the monitor for 9 hours?

    Any help is highly appreciated!

  • Found that it is approximately taking 75 MB space for the logs in the perfmon folder for enabling it for 30 minutes

Waiting for anybody's input to be precise in the counters
