IE11: Give me the desktop mode back on 8.1 RTM

    Question

  • Hello forum!

How can I force IE11 in Windows 8.1 RTM (at least the desktop edition) to run in desktop mode and not as a mobile browser?

Many sites (as CRM) appear as mobile now what is annoying!

    Thanks and BR,

    Patrick

  • OK,

just in case that there is no solution (puuuh, even WP8 can change between mobile and desktop IE experience) there is at least one workaround: add the site to the "Compatability View settings" within IE tools.

  • Hi,

There is  a configuration named Always in Internet Explorer on the desktop, which you can decide to configure it to open your links in desktop.

  • Alex,

that configuration is to start IE on the desktop and not IE as an app. In both cases IE is running as mobile browser and sites are displayed in the mobile version if they have one.

    Cheers, Patrick
