Assign Client to Different Site After Imaging

    Question

  • The Client has a CAS with 2 Primaries.    A log of imaging is done in site PR1 subnets and then the machine is moved to site PR2.  How do you reassign the machine to the new site?

    Thanks,

  • There is nothing built in to do this (at least not until R2). You'll have to script it or manually do it from the client system's control panel applet.

Just another reason (number 10,218 by my count) not to use multiple primary sites and a CAS.

  • Not sure what that means?

I'm talking about going into the applet and typing in the site code for PR2 and then clicking assign.

  • Sorry, I still don't follow.

You, go into the Control Panel applet on the site assignment tab. It currently says PR1. You elevate as necessary, and type in PR2 over the PR1 and click assign?

    Is that accurate?

  • Correct.

after I click assign it pop ups with "Failed to Update Site"

  • That means it probably can't find the site.

Is the site info published to AD?

Have you reviewed any client logs files? Like ClientLocation and LocationServices?

  • Yes the site is published in AD and I already have clients assigned to site PR2.  I just can't seem to change this client from PR1 to PR2
