    Question

  • Migrating win 2003 server that was hosting dhcp to Windows 2008 r2 server.  Dchp authorized and activated.

Stopped dhcp server on win 2003 and my test client not able to find dhcp server.  No dhcp relay agents activated on any other server. Very small shop with only 3 servers, firewall and router.  No bootp or dhcp settings activated for dhcp.  Not sure were to look next.

  • Restart DHCP Server, assuming you configured the scope correctly, you should see ip addresses that were assigned in the leases, any DHCP error in the event viewer ?

  • Hi,

Can you ping the DHCP server?

Check the logs on the DHCP server to see if any errors.

You can follow kb/962355 to do the migration:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962355

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello,

Any IP Helper address on the switch?

Can New DHCP server and the clients(Static IP) are pinging.

Check IP routes setting. User wirkeshark and check what's going on.

  • Hi,

Have you manual configured the IP addresses of clients?

Please run ipconfig /all on the test client and the server, then post the result here.
