Answered FEP and Windows Server 2012....

    I installed Windows Server 2012 (member server) and plan to install FEP 2010 (?)  on the same box as its antivirus solution. I have never installed\used FEP so can it do what I am trying? (Things don't always work out as I would plan. For example, I found out already that the Server needs to belong to the domain before I can even install FEP! Didn't expect that one. Maybe it's also assumed that System Center is up and running. You tell me);

    TIA,

    Hi,

    Server 2012 is not supported as an OS to install FEP 2010 Server on, with the latest update it can be a client but not install the FEP Server 2010 in Server 2012 and yes it requires that Configuration Manager 2007 is installed already which also doesn't support Server 2012.
    I would recommend that you have a look att SCCM 2012 where Endpoint Protection is integrated in the Product and q1 2013 it will support server 2012 as well.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the post.

    Yes, you can install the Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client on a computer that is running Windows Server 2012 with this hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2758685?wa=wsignin1.0 And to install FEP 2010 on a client, you may refer to this prerequisites: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff823900.aspx
