    Hi,

we have FEP 2010 license, but we do not have SQL server. We use SCCM server with evalution version of SQL and FEP does not work that way.

How could we install FEP 2010 without SQL, could we use only clients for deployment? what are other solutions?

    thank you,
    N

    Hi naujas

FEP 2010 cannot install on a evaluation version of a SQL server. since you are having an evaluation version of a SQL server for SCCM, u might not able to install FEP.

you can manually install FEP client on computers using its client setup. then using a WSUS, by creating an auto approval rule you can update the FEP client. or you can use internet to update.

without having the SCCM you will loss the ability to generate reports and distribution of the FEP client.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the post.

Without SQL, you could not install FEP server on SCCM server. That means manage FEP 2010 without SCCM.

However, you could manage FEP 2010 with GPO but lost report function as Asitha mentioned.

    thank you for information,

    I found FEPInstall.exe on "CD:\FEP2010_en-us\FEP2010_en-us\x86\client".

I guess this is FEP client software? How I could deploy this client with GPO or SCCM?

Also should I import any adm to control FEP client through GPO?

    thanks

Yes, it's the client software installation file for x86 system.

How I could deploy this client with GPO or SCCM?
Use GPP schedule tasks to install FEP client with command below:
    fepinstall.exe /q /s
Deploying the Client Software by Using the Command Prompt

Also should I import any adm to control FEP client through GPO?
Yes, import adm file fep2010.adml and fep2010.admx to your Server with GPMC.
Use FEP Group Policy tool to import FEP policy into GPO, then edit FEP policy GPO with FEP GPO ADM template.

    Hi,

    thank you for information,

I tried to import FEP2010.admx file to gpo. I copied FEP2010.admx to "C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions", I started GPO and got error:

    Encountered an error while parsing:

An appropriate resourse file could not be found for file....

    wich file I missed?

    thank you,

    Hi,

Did you copy the ADML files to PolicyDefinitions\en-Us (for example)? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412467.aspx
