Can FPSP get updates from FPE repository?
-
Friday, January 13, 2012 7:58 PMWe have an FPE and FPSP 2010 deployment with 1 FPE server in each datacenter as the distribution server. I was hoping to use that server as the update location for fpe and fpsp servers. The fpsp server isn't liking the idea, getting download errors, wondering if that isn't going to work? Any ideas? Maybe they are different formats? Thanks, Jon

Hi,
Thank you for the post.
You can use Forefront Server Protection Management Console which will download and distribution of signature and scan engine updates.

I would think this would work for you. There are no differences that i am aware of, between the engines for the latest versions of FPSP and FPE.
Do you see anything in the event log, in the security log perhaps?
It might be interesting to run Process Monitor on both the redistribution and target server simultaneously together with a network trace. From these you might be able to see if you are being denied access and why.

Alex
