FCS 2008R2 support
I was interested in Forefront but wanted to know if Microsoft is going to release FCS with support of 2008R2?

Hi,
Thank you for the post.
Before going any further, I’d like to confirm whether the “FCS” means client security component or not. If you want to deploy client security component on Windows Server 2008R2, it is supported but we cannot deploy server component(FCS V1) on any 64bit system. Please refer to following articles:

However, in next generation- Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 (previously codenamed “Stirling”), the server component should be install on Windows Server 2008. Please refer to :

- As far as I know we don't currently have anything coming up support wise for FCS Server on 2008 R2.
For the client we support 2008 R2.. but not 2008 R2 Core (yet) we will have a fix for that sometime soon as there was an issue with R2 Core using a newer DiFX and core does not have appcompat shims to allow it to install anyway like win7 or full 2008 r2 does.
